Jan 08   ATV Action: Maxpower/RPM's is known for building some of the most powerful ATV motors around. We know that. So when we got a call from Maxpower asking if we wanted to test their new LTR stroker kit, we tried to stop giggling like schoolgirls. We waited for weeks to get our hands on what we were sure would be the fastest 450-chassis quad we've ever ridden, and when we finally got our hands on it, we didn't know what to do with ourselves......... Dec 06   ATV Sport Magazine: "The biggest advantage of the ICE CUBE was its pulling power and ability to lug gears. Our test rider noticed power strikes right on the bottom end and hard pulling all the way through the power band! Click here to see the article.

Sept 06   Dirtbike Magazine: Cool Jalapeno-KX 276F ICE CUBE: Whoa! First off, this has to be the easiest starting four-stroke that we've tested. Power wise there is no comparison to the stocker; the CUBE hit harder, sooner and has meat. It craves a higher gear, pulls the cog with apparent ease, and gets with the program post haste. Click here to see the article.
Sept 06   Dirtwheels: ICE CUBE TRX 488R: Our ICE CUBE kitted Max Power-RPM 488cc engine kit gave the Honda 450R a substantial increase in overall useable power. It pulls like a freight train on the bottom end, and flows smoothly through a revving top end. We felt this was one of the best running Honda 450R's we've ever ridden. There is no hitches in the power and hook-up in phenomenal. This is the type of engine mod that will make 98 percent of the riders out there faster! Click here to see the article.
Aug 06   Dirt Rider Yamaha YZ 285: The motor is plenty strong on this one; it has a lot of low and midrange meat and pulled hard. It's quicker than a KTM 300!
June 06

Dirt Bike: THE IN-BETWEENERS RMZ & YZF 315: The 315's are easier to ride than anything on the track. 450's require more strength, 250F's require more energy. Despite producing so much more power, the 315's seem to last as long or longer than a stock bike! Click here to see the article.

June 06   Dirt Rider MaxPower-RPMs CRF302x ICE CUBE & Stroker Crank in the 24-Hour Torture Test. We ran the 302 ICE CUBE kit in our VET class MX bikes and have found it's power to be undeniably great.  It torques and pulls way lower without hesitation and doesn't lose anything on top.  If it seems as if I'm rambling about this motor, it's because it's that damn good.  OK, I'm done now.  This motor rules. Now I'm done for real!  No 250X I've ridden comes close on power!  -Karel Kramer Dirtrider wrecking crew. Click here to see the article.

Motocross Action: We ride Maxpower/RPM's Big-Bore KX315F.With the weight of a 250F, but the power of a 450, the KX315F is a tantalizing mix. Click here to see the article.

May 06   4-Wheel ATV Action: Yamaha YFZ 523 DUNE MONSTER: The 523's solid bottom to top end pull was great for dune riding. If we were even close to the best gear for the situation, the YFZ was unboggable. With the extra power, the hardest thing about hill climbs was avoiding launching off the tops too far!

After just a few laps it was clear that the RM139 was much faster and stronger than the stocker.

-this bike Rips! First gear should be removed, as second, third and usually 4th

Will pull through anything but the tightest corners. Power remains Hondalike, with a smooth and progressive build, but it slows a little sooner on top than stock. If you want more, just shift up and hold on. Is it a handful? Oh, sure. Just remind yourself what you’re on and only twist the throttle an eighth of what you’re used to!

Mar 06   Dirt Rider MaxPower-RPMs YZ285 "The YZ 285 has plenty of horsepower and torque on tap to challenge even the baddest 4-strokes"
Dec 05   ATV Sport Magazine Max Power RPM’s ICE CUBE takes five. ATV drag racing review, five YFZ ICE CUBE Quads take 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 6th place in the largest ATV event in the Mid West. “Results speak, and we have no choice but to listen. Max built it to be a top end screamer for Jay. “We were worried about having a “Vet” big bore with tons of bottom and mid but no top end pull, but the bike remains snappy and exciting to ride, as top end power is incredible.”

Dirt Rider CRF302 (On the cover+ a 6 page test) ICE CUBE full tests and brief test on the YZF315 ICE CUBE. "..the 302 is amazing. It barks hard from low in the rpm range; the middle rpm range is more muscular by far but still as controllable and as fun as stock. Let the bike rev, something you do a lot less of on the 302-and it rips with as much as 8 more horsepower than stock. You tackle rutted turns a gear high as you would on a 450 and accelerate through the turns at a far lower rpm than with a stock 250. The same is true with jumps that require you to shift right beforehand in order to clear them on a stock 250. On the 302 you just shift earlier and let the power pull all the way up the face. This bike is not a hot-rod 250. It is a different animal that feels between a 250 and a 450.-a place we like. As powerful as the 302 is. it remains useable and easy to manage like a 250. As effective as modern 450's are, they can be demanding to ride, and many pilots find them overkill. The biggest difference for me is how much faster I can ride in and out of turns on the 302. I'm not sure I am faster on the 302, but I certainly feel quicker and can last longer......when it (150 mile Best in the Desert Race) was over, all three of us were blown away by the bikes instant response and great power. We pounded it through rocks, mud and deep sand, and it never missed a beat. We have at least 15 hours on the engine, and it shows no signs of slowing, and the valves checked out as perfect after the race. Laughlin had lots of sections that called for wheelying right into steep faces, and the RPM's bike was excellent there in in whoops of all sizes. Now we know that a fun motor is a fun motor. We aimed at a great moto engine combination, but it proved awsome off-road. This bike is an addiction. Once you have ridden it, you want to ride it more; It's that much fun. Sure, it's pricey; but a thrill ride such as this CRF302R is priceless."

March-05   Cycle World WR302F ICE CUBE (Street Legal) “It retains the light feeling and quick-easy handling of a 250cc four-stroke, but with significantly increased bottom-end snap. Wheelies are much easier and gear selection isn’t nearly as critical. In the hands of an expert, you’d be hard pressed to find a bike that could attack a trail as effectively while having the lungs to keep singing in wide-open spaces. Overall, the WR315 provides a supurb balance of power and agility and makes one of the most fun trail bikes about 30 percent more so.”
March-05   Cycle World Pages 82-83 KXF276 ICE CUBE “..we came away with a bike without a displacement class at the track, but which was a lot more useable for real-world riding. If you own a KX-F or RM-Z and you’re thinking about a little more power, just wait until rebuild time and use it as an excuse to step it up. We’re sure glad we did!” Jimmy Lewis

Sept-02   Dirt Bike Pages 120-124 YZ262F STEALTH “Making a YZ250F faster than stock is a tough job. Replacing the pipe gives you a horsepower or two but then it gets difficult. You can spend thousands on airboxes, cams and headwork, but you run into diminishing returns. Giving the bike a 2mm overbore is like getting a clean slate. All of a sudden the bike can really us more flow through the airbox, the head and the exhaust. So all of the modifications that net marginal results with the stock bike are suddenly worthwhile.”
